"89 Ways to Write Powerful Press Releases"
Lesson #16:
Employee recognition
Many companies write press releases
about employee recognition ceremonies. But the problem is, if
there are a lot of employees, the press release ends up looking
like a big blob of gray. There are so many names and titles with
all those commas and semi-colons that the readers' eyes glaze
over.
I like the way Medrad, Inc. presented this press release
at its website. The company provides medical devices and services
that enable and enhance imaging procedures of the human body.
Medrad listed the names of the employees, their titles, and the
cities and states where they live, in a simple table. The table creates white space and makes it easy for scanners
to find what they're looking for. Consider this format when you
need to include many names, cities and titles in your press
release for things such as new employees, promotions, appointments
to committees, etc.
Notice the links throughout the press release and the Safe Harbor
Statement at the end, which I wrote about in
Lesson #14.

INDIANOLA, Pa., May 23, 2006 – On May 25, 2006, MEDRAD will honor 39 employee
inventors and authors who have collectively generated 22 medical device patents
and technical publications, enabling the company to deliver on its mission to
improve the quality of healthcare. The patents and publications represent MEDRAD’s
commitment to research and development and were submitted by teams of scientists,
engineers and marketers charged with forging the next generation of MEDRAD products.
"MEDRAD's growth is and has always been fueled by innovation and technological
advancements. These thirty-nine inventors, through their collective creativity
and ingenuity, have helped to improve the quality of healthcare and enable MEDRAD's
continued growth. We owe a great deal to their talent, effort and contribution,"
remarked
Joe Havrilla, chief technology officer.
MEDRAD has a long history of innovation, beginning with founder M. Stephen
Heilman, M.D.’s invention of the first angiographic injector in 1966.
An emergency room physician by day, “Doc” created a machine to power
inject contrast agent into the vessels during an angiogram procedure, making
it possible to better diagnose his heart disease and stroke patients. MEDRAD
went on to develop the first injection systems for CT, MR and ultrasound and
the first MR-compatible infusion system.
The annual recognition dinner will take place at J. Verno's Studio on Pittsburgh’s
South Side with
John P. Friel, President and CEO of MEDRAD, INC., as the keynote
speaker. Other speakers include Joe Havrilla and Greg Bradley, executive director
of corporate intellectual property.
Awards will be presented to these patent holders and authors:
